Tortuguita verde

Little green turtle

nació en la playa

born on the beach

Se alegran la arena

The sand, the breeze

la brisa y el sol

and the sun are happy

“ No vayas, Tortuga

"Don't go, turtle.

Te puedan cazar

They may hunt you:

el cangrejo espera

the crab is waiting

y te quiere atacar

“and wants to attack you"

Pero ella no escucha

But she's not listening

¿En qué pensará?

What can she be thinking of?

Oculta en su nido

Hiding in her nest

Se pone a sonar

She starts to dream

“ Cuando yo sea grande

"When I get big

yo quiero viajar

I want to travel

a lejanas playas

to faraway beaches

más allá del mar”

far beyond the sea"

Tortuguita sueña

Little Turtle dreams

en castillo de paz

in her castle of peace

cantando un arrullo

singing a lullaby

cuando sea mama

for when she's a mama

“ En esta misma playa

On this same beach

vendré a desovar

I'll come to lay my eggs

muchas tortuguitas

many little turtles

Mi felicidad”

My happiness

Sobre blanca nube

On a white cloud

la gaviota va

the seagull flies

y le manda un beso

and sends her a kiss

vestido de mar.

dressed in the sea.
